As a child, I was blessed having parents that allowed me to try out all different kinds of sports. After trying the more usual sports like football, tennis, jiu jitsu and many others, I found my true passion in Alpine Skiing.
Growing up as an ordinary boy in my hometown Brasschaat, my moments of skiing were limited to school vacations and some afternoon trainings on artificial slopes in Belgium. I soon realized that if you really want to achieve something, it’s not only about motivation, but also getting the possibilities and facilities you require. Therefore I joined the Elite Sports School in Antwerp at the age of 14. After the years of rarely training in France, we moved to the Austrian Alps where I could now spend most of my days training, racing and studying. For the first time in my life I was given the possibility to develop all of my talents both sportive as academic. After having completed my secondary school, I’m now capable of devoting myself to skiing in the winter as well as finishing my studies of Political Science at the University of Antwerp. During the season, which is about 8 months a year, I live in Austria. There I have the luck to find myself training in one of the most amazing teams, with people who support me and push me further every single day. The main focus every year is on getting better and achieving the goals me and my team have set. In the off-season, I try to balance studying and dry training to get ready for the new season. It’s a tough and unusual combination, but I have the outmost believe that it will all be worth it in the end. I would like to thank every single person that has supported me in the past, present and who will hopefully keep supporting me in the future. I promise I will keep doing my very best every single day, to not only stand up to the expectations, but also to exceed them!.
